BLUE AMBER FROM INDONESIA
This is genuine blue Amber. Blue amber has a pale blue hue in good light but the colour intensity is variable across the material and often the colour shows only when polished. This is NOT copal amber. It is roughly 20 million years old - based on the tests conducted on the material by the mine owners. Blue amber is only known from Indonesia. All specimens are cleaned and sealed following standard treatment protocols. Some of the material has some white intrusive like sections which adds contrast. I don't know what it is. Some have suggested it is a growth that was covered by the tree sap that was fossilized along with the amber.
The photos are of the actual pieces of Indonesian blue amber for sale in this parcel. The photos of individual pieces are backlit, so they look like they are glowing red-orange to yellow. How much they 'glow' is a function of the thickness and/or density of the piece plus any inclusions or impurities which might block the light from coming through.
