CORAL FOSSIL STONE

These tumbled coral fossil stones are various shades of tan, brown and white, with some pink.  They are sorted.  See the pictures for details.  They look great in a bowl, for art projects, or as a base to set other stones or objects on, as well as being interesting in their own right as fossilized inhabitants of the sea many eons ago.    Fossil coral is a natural gemstone that is created when prehistoric coral is gradually replaced with agate.   These stones are from ancient fossilized coral beds and the original animals have been replaced with agate.  Fossil coral should not be mistaken for endangered or protected reef coral or precious coral. Fossil coral is also much harder than precious coral. Most agatized fossil coral exhibits a dull to waxy luster and interesting skeletal-like ancient coral patterns, most often appearing in flower shapes, depending on the orientation of the coral.

SIZE:  Large, most are between 20-30 mm, (7/8 to 1-1/4").

WEIGHT:  Each package weighs 1/2 pound.

COUNT:  There are generally around 25 to 30 stones in a half-pound.   The count is only a rough guide for the buyer.

PICTURES:  The picture is typical of the size and quality and may not be the exact stones you receive.  The stones are photographed dry.  The scale in the pictures is in inches.

According to metaphysical beliefs, fossil coral is a grounding stone good for bringing about change. Agate is thought to be able to help heal pancreatic disorders and improve blood and air circulation. Fossil coral is used for healing eye, skin and stomach illnesses. It is even believed to enhance longevity.

Although coral is not a traditional birthstone for any month, it is a non-traditional zodiac stone for Taurus.
